Good News Northern California! Arxterra is packing up Rosco and taking the show on the road in October for two special events near you.
First off is the Santa Rosa MiniMaker Faire on October 19th at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa. This event is being held in conjunction with the Santa Rosa Fall festival at the same location! This is a great
opportunity for the maker community to reach out to those interested in DIY projects who aren’t familiar with maker Faires! Rosco will have to be on his best behavior!
Next we’re off to the East Bay MiniMaker Faire in Oakland, Ca, on October 20th at the Park Day School and District Art Center in the Temescal District. We look forward to an interesting weekend meeting makers and exchanging ideas! This Faire has been in planning for a while now and we’re looking forward the to checking out the Bay Area Scene!
Discounted tickets for the Faires are available from their respective web sites. Both events should be a great time and if you’re in the area, stop by our booth and say hello! Better yet, get your own telepresent robot up and running on our server so you can be featured at the Faires!
Contact arxterra@gmail.com for details. Hope to see you there!
Be the first to test out the Arxterra Telerobotics Platform Android App! We are expanding our list of known mobile devices which have been confirmed to work. Help start your own community!
To become an official ArxRobot tester, please email: arxterra@gmail.com with and state your phone model and operating system verson!
Do you like robots? Does the idea of piloting a rover from hundreds of miles away excite you? If so, you may have a great opportunity at Arxterra Telerobitc Communities.
Arxterra is all about building telerobotic communities to bring people together and create a forum for ingenuity and artistic expression. We are currently seeking interns with experience in programming (java, Android development, C, adobe flash), CAD (solidworks, eagle), web design (wordpress), or robotics to work directly with our team on our open source robotics platform.
At Arxterra, everything is built from the ground up so interns will gain valuable experience in rapid prototyping and overall familiarity with a wide range of engineering disciplines.
If you have a passion for robotics and experience with programming, CAD, web design, or any other skills you believe can be valuable to our program, please reply with resume and any related projects, videos, or links.
Arxterra has released the current beta versions of Arduino code for our telerobotics plaform. The Rosco Code utilizes and Arduino uno and android OS 3.0 and higher. For those of you with Android phones OS 2.3 and higher we suggest you take a look at the pathfinder Arduino code, which can be used in conjunction with and Arduino mega ADK. We haven’t had the chance to work with the USB host shield but it should be simple for all you makers our there. Any takers?

Pathfinder Rover was exploring the most recent meeting for the Robotics Society of Southern California. There were also interesting presentations on autonomous robots (Leaf Project) and Lego NXT Sensor Interfacing. Meetings are free and every second Saturday of the month.
For more info go to http://rssc.org/node/1.
Arxterra was on hand at the OC Interactive Group giving a presentation on Arduino Flash Based Control! Of course Rosco was on hand for a quick demo! Thanks to our own Jeff Gomes for setting everything up.
More info on OC Interactive can be found at:
Here’s a preview of the Rosco b1.0v Documentation. This is still a work in progress but a good place to start getting some details on the project. 3d models will be posted soon!!!!
Also here’s a helpful spreadsheet (Bill of Materials) with links to vendors
Rosco and Pathfinder were on display at the monthly LA Arduino Enthusiast Meeting. Great turnout and interesting people from all backgrounds. If you’re in the area and love Arduino, a great meeting to check out! People of all ages and backgrounds!

Telerobotics is controlling robots at a distance — be it 3 feet away or half way around the world. ROSCO is the codename for RObot SCOut. This rover is made of entirely open source stuff — from the Arduino to the 3D-printed chassis and can be controlled over a web browser from anywhere there’s Internet.
Check out the current ROSCO documentation page which has a Bill of Materials.
