Verification and Validation
By Jeremy Seiden (Mission, Systems, and Test)
I review the verification and validation table.
Introduction
Below is the Verification and Validation Table for the 2016 SPARCCS instrument. The requirement numbers correspond to our product requirements. A brief description of the requirement is listed along with the criteria for success. The verification/validation method column states whether the requirement must be verified or validated, and the course of action to do so. Columns have been left for results.
Verification/Validation Table
Requirement Number | Shall Statement | Verification/Validation Success Criteria | Verification/Validation Method | Results | Pass/Fail |
1 | The final product shall be integrated into a PCB of Club-defined size (tentatively 9.2 cm by 8.9 cm). | 1. PCB fits inside of existing chassis 2. PCB mounting holes align with existing chassis mounts |
Verification: Measurement/Trial mounting (if available) |
||
2 | The final product shall implement a dosimeter capable of measuring the total ionizing dose (TID) of radiation and detecting single event upsets (SEU) in the GEO environment. | Instrument returns data yielding the radiation dosage in counts per specified unit time, along with detected single event criteria. | Validation: Instrument Test |
||
3 | The final product shall packetize the measured TID and SEU data into a Club-defined format (to be determined). | 1. Packetized data can be observed at a point in the serial connection 2. Packetization process does not corrupt data |
Validation: Observation of Serial monitor |
||
4 | The final product shall satisfy all power delivery and grounding requirements from Fall 2015’s Team project. | Instrument receives power only through 5V connection and bus | Validation: Instrument Test/Visual Inspection |
||
5 | The final product shall consume no more than 750 mW of power. | The average power consumtion of the instrument does not exceed 750mW | Verification: Measurement |
||
6 | The final product shall weigh no more than 500 g. | The mass of the final product does not exceed 500g | Verification: Measurement |
||
7 | The final product shall be furnished no later than the allotted final class period (May 9th, 2016) | The final product is ready to demonstrate at the time of the final. | Validation: Observation |
